What is a Yankee Betting Calculator?

Our Yankee bet calculator figures out what the potential payout could be if all four of your selections in a Yankee bet were to win. It quickly solves complicated formulas for each potential bet, giving you instant results so you can decide whether the bet is right for you or not.

The Goal of a Yankee Odds Calculator

You’d use this calculator to get the total outlay (how much you’ll need to stake), total return, and total potential profit for your Yankee bet. This way, you can easily use it on the moneyline results in a quarter-final, all the way to a horse race. You can also easily adjust your stake and even the odds you bet on accordingly to suit your budget and bet play style best.

What is Yankee Betting?

Yankee betting is a unique approach where you make 11 bets in total that are spread across four different events/games. These 11 bets are broken down into:

  • Six Doubles: This is a combination of every pair in those four games. This means betting on Teams AB, AC, AD, BC, BD, and CD to win together. This is done in six separate bets.
  • Four Trebles: This is a trio combination that includes three of four selections in each wager. This means betting on Teams ABC, ABD, ACD and BCD to all win. This is done in four separate bets.
  • One Fourfold Accumulator: This is an accumulator bet that includes all four of your selections, so Teams ABCD together.

In general, you will need to win at least two selections in order to cover the cost of the original stakes and walk away with a small profit.

An Example of Yankee Betting in Practise

Yankee bets are typically placed on four different events so that you could, theoretically, win every single selection. For example, if all four teams win their games, then you win all 11 bets and their payouts. Let’s see how it would play out.

Say you want to bet on all four of the quarter-final matches of the WTA Oerias. We want to bet on Lapchenko, Falei, Pera and Tauson to win their matches in a Yankee bet. The odds for these players winning are:

  • Lepchenko (A) to win: 2.25
  • Falei (B) to win: 3.75
  • Pera (C) to win: 1.33
  • Tauson (D) to win: 1.04

Now, we want to bet just £1 on each bet, so that means we make £11 of bets in total. We also only want to bet one-way, which means we only win if those players win their matches. The Yankee calculator will do all the calculations in the background and then work to give you the sum up of all the potential returns from the 11 bets:

Doubles:

AB: £2.25 x £3.75 = £8.44
AC: £2.25 x £1.33 = £2.99
AD: £2.25 x £1.04 = £2.34
BC: £3.75 x £1.33 = £4.99
BD: £3.75 x £1.04 = £3.90
CD: £1.33 x £1.04 = £1.38

Doubles Winnings Total: 8.44 + 2.99 + 2.34 + 4.99 + 3.90 + 1.38 = £24.04

Trebles:

ABC: £2.25 x £3.75 x £1.33 = £11.22
ABD: £2.25 x £3.75 x £1.04 = £8.78
ACD: £2.25 x £1.33 x £1.04 = £3.11
BCD: £3.75 x £1.33 x £1.04 = £5.19

Trebles Winnings Total: 11.22 + 8.78 + 3.11 + 5.19 = £28.30

Fourfold Accumulator:

ABCD: £2.25 x £3.75 x £1.33 x £1.04 = £11.67

Total Combined Winnings of All Bets: 24.04 + 28.30 + 11.67 = £64.01

Finally, our Yankee returns calculator will remove the initial stake from that potential return. In this case, we could stand to receive £53.01 in profits if all four favoured players to win do so, with an £11 stake.

Why Do Bettors Opt for Yankee Betting?

Yankee betting is popular amongst experienced bettors for its ability to combine multiple bets and expand the number of ways you can walk away with a profit. This is particularly true because the potential maximum return is significantly higher than the stake you use, so it’s ideal for those looking to make a potentially great profit with a reasonably low total stake amount. Moreover, being able to nail four entire selections in one go can be quite a satisfying betting experience for those who have taken the time to do their sports research!

Does Yankee Betting Work on All Sports?

Yankee betting can be used on a sport so long as there are multiple selections. This means it would work on an MMA tournament, for example, but not for a 1v1 special event. That being said, there are some sports where it is much more popular than others:

Horse Racing
One of the biggest sports you’ll find Yankee betting used on is horse racing, along with other multi-way options like trifecta betting (if that’s the way you want to go, use our trifecta calculator instead). You can even use what is known as “Rule 4”. This rule is more common in the UK than in the US for horse racing, but it can impact your Yankee bet. Rule 4 is a deduction that’s added to odds if a horse backs out of the competition after betting begins. This rule can be accommodated using the Rule 4 section in our calculator.

Tennis
Tennis is largely built around tournament-style competitions, which gives you plenty of opportunities to bet on four selections. In our example, we bet on each game in the quarter-finals. Since you need at least four selections for Yankee betting to work, it does mean you won’t be able to use it in the semi-finals and finals, but you can use it in the earlier stages. Since there’s no draw in tennis, it simplifies your Yankee betting strategy, allowing you to make faster choices when betting.

American Football
Another popular sport to bet on with the Yankee betting method is American football, especially games in the NFL. There are many games and matchups, giving you plenty of opportunities to build a variety of Yankee bets throughout the season. This is especially true since you can create Yankee bets with betting markets like point spreads and totals as well. You can also bet both ways (by doubling your stake) to back both sides.

Get Started With Our Yankee Bets Calculator

Ready to see your Yankee bet’s potential payouts? It’s time to get started with our free bet calculator for Yankee bets today. All you need to get started is the odds of your four selections winning. From there, you can use our Yankee odds calculator.

Of course, you can enter other key information like if there’s a Rule 4 deduction, how much the deduction was, and how many players can draw by selecting the “Number of Runners in Dead Heat”. Once you’ve adapted all those fields to suit your bet, all that is left is to calculate it and see potential returns and profits.

Our Top Tips To Get the Most Out of Our Yankee Calculator

Not quite sure how to use our calculator? No worries, we’ve put together a few of our favourite top tips to help you out:

Don’t Forget to Enter the Place Odds if You’re Backing Each Way

When you select Yes to Each Way betting, an additional section will be added to the calculator to enter your place odds. Make sure you update that number, as it is automatically preset at 1/5.

Bet on Different Matches/Races/Games

In order for Yankee bets to effectively work to their max potential, you need to actually be able to win all of them. If you try to build a bet and have Manchester City and Manchester United to win, but they are playing against each other, then one of our four selections is guaranteed to lose, and the payout may not be enough to cover your stake.

Know When to Use Stake Per Bet vs Total Combined Stake

Stake per bet lets you track each individual stake amount, while the total combined stake is the overall amount that will be split across each bet. If you have a specific budget, use the total combined stake to make sure your total outlay is calculated correctly.

Yankee Bets Calculator FAQs

🏆 What does it mean to back each way?

Some bookmakers let you automatically bet each way. In racing, for example, it means you bet on a specific horse to win and also to place. To back a bet each way, you’ll need to make another bet, so rather than £1 stake, it will cost £2, for example.

❓ What’s the difference between ‘Equally Divided’ and ‘Win-to-Win, Place-to-Place’?

Equally divided means that your stake is divided across all 11 bets equally and is used in standard Yankee bets. Win-to-Win, Place-to-Place is used when you back each way and divide your stake up between the win and place bets.

💸 Can I lose money on a Yankee bet?

Yes, if just one of the teams you bet on (out of the four) wins, then you’ll usually have paid more in stakes than you will get back in winnings, so you’d be down. Similarly, it’s possible for none of the bets you back to win.

✍️ Why should I add selection notes?

Adding selection notes makes it easier to tell what the bet means. In this case, add the team name or horse name you are betting on. This will help you with your research and keeping the figures straight.

🤔 What’s the difference between a Yankee bet, a Lucky15, and a Super Yankee?

These are all similar bets with key differences. A Yankee bet is made up of 11 bets, a Lucky15 is made up of 15 bets, and a super Yankee (sometimes called a Canadian) is made up of 26 bets.
