World Cup Group D odds predictions
Things are heating up as we approach the FIFA World Cup, with a total of 48 countries across the globe coming together to participate in soccer’s biggest tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
There are 12 groups in total, and we’ve got guides on all of them, from World Cup Group A odds all the way to the final L group. But today, we’re focusing on Group D, which is an exciting mix of home-grown talent, European edge, Central American prowess and Antipodean potency!
The USA, Turkey, Paraguay and Australia are all in the battle to make it out of the group stage and into the knock-out rounds, and we’re here to give you our World Cup Group D predictions. So with that in mind, let’s look at each country and how we think they’re going to perform in the World Cup 2026.
As one of the three co-hosts, the United States carries the weight of a nation on its shoulders. With a young, talented squad, playing in front of huge home crowds at venues like the SoFi Stadium, they are currently clear favorites to win the group.
The country’s best ever finish was actually in the very first tournament back in 1930 where they finished third place, and with the rising popularity in soccer in the last few years, we predict that the US is hoping to reclaim its former glory and make it out of the group stages and into the knockout rounds.
The wild card of our World Cup group D predictions, Turkey hasn’t made many appearances in the tournament over the years, but when they have, the results have been quite explosive! After their debut in 1954, Turkey shocked the world in 2002 by getting all the way to the semi-finals and eventually finishing in third place after beating co-hosts South Korea.
Heading into April, there have been some concerns about the fitness of Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Arda Güler, both of whom are recovering from injuries at present, but if these two star players can get back to full health, Turkey will be a dangerous opponent and could very well challenge the US for top spot within the group.
Known for their tactical discipline, Paraguay has appeared in eight previous World Cups, and their most successful period came between 1998 and 2010 when they qualified for four consecutive tournaments.
2010 was when Paraguay hit its peak. The team reached the quarter-finals and pushed Spain to the absolute limit, before conceding a 1-0 loss. Their return in 2026 is a major milestone for the country, as they pride themselves on being one of the toughest opponents in South American football.
The current World Cup Group D odds suggest that Paraguay will aim to secure draws against the favorites and then look for a decisive win in their third match– a strategy that has historically served them well when getting through the group stages.
The clear underdogs, Australia relies on its enthusiastic fan base and youthful squad to carry it through the group stages. Technically skilled, the ‘Socceroos’ enter Group D as a team not to be underestimated.
The Australian team often thrives when its back is against the wall, and while the odds may suggest they are outsiders, their physical style of play and ‘never say die’ attitude makes them a very interesting and potentially dangerous opponent in this year’s tournament.

World Cup Group D odds offer a range of fun options for your betting slip
You can check out our guide to World Cup Group C odds as well, but for the moment, we believe that Group D is offering quite an eclectic and fun collection of countries to bet on.
It’s clear that the USA is the favorite, but Turkey will definitely throw a spanner in the works, and could emerge victorious.
